Patti LaBelle Declares Herself A 'Diva-betic'!
Yesterday, as I was running errands to get ready for our monthly free DIVABETIC meeting and I stopped by the NYC Chapter of the ADA. Sexy and fabulous ADA Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator, Dionne Polite, graciously packed a box of essential diabetes education materials for me to hand out at our meeting. Well, I happened to see the Diabetes Forecast magazine article featuring Patti LaBelle on the cover. I opened the magazine and practically fell out of my chair when I read the caption that said, "I'm a diva-betic!" in big pink type. Wow! What a moment. Thanks, Patti for making our day!

I attended the "DIVABETIC" event Hollywood, CA on June 16 2007. It was a blessing to see and receive the information that was availaible for people dealing with diabetes.
[I was the one in the unique outfit, for those of you who were there]
The education was incredible; from the exercise info, to the food info. Then to learn not only how to eat but to pinpoint why one eats at the time one eats. In other words, the reason for eating what you eat. One can eat - but eat healthy in portions.
Exercise is important for good healthy living and Ms. Exercizzeling Diva made sure to let one know that it dosen't take aggressive but effective to stay on the path of wellness.
The external is also as important as the internal. I learned how to care of my feet as well what to look for when looking for footwear. There were makeovers. I not only enjoyed a lovely manicure I also enjoyed Aretha Franklin's "Respect" while I waited on my nail painting session.
I skipped the body analysis because I have taken "Fashion Design." There were some beautiful outfits as well as shapers there. And here I thought that I would never use restraits and confines..."Lane Bryant" here I come.
The Divabeteers were beautiful, as well as attentive. I met some interesting people and found out how small the world truly is.
Looking forward to a repeat performance in Sunshiney Southern Cali soon. I kinda tol' my people 'boutchy'all. Now that graduation is over for now they can come. Y'all come back now...
Thank you for the opportunity to an extended education on diabetes.
Again, Thank you
